Mani Monday: O Canada

Hi guys! It’s time for Mani Monday and since this upcoming Friday is Canada Day, I thought I would match my manicure to the occasion. As well, as promised, I’m using the Formula X Wingwoman nail polish that I got in my last Ipsy Glam Bag! I also wanted to do something a bit different so I attempted to water marble which is something I haven’t done in years. I’m definitely rusty. I always photograph my left hand but this time the right turned out better which was super awkward to take a picture of. I definitely need more practice at water marbling to get back into it but I thought I would share my manicure anyways. Who hasn’t had a manicure fail?

I’ve stopped doing Snapshot Sunday since I haven’t really been doing much worth writing about or anything out of the ordinary. I may bring it back for the summer months depending on what I’m up to! Either that or I’ll maybe restructure them… We’ll see! Also, my camera on my phone has been messed up for quite some time too which has been creating a lack of photos for Snapshot Sunday.

3 Glow Worthy Highlights

Hi guys! I have been getting more into highlighting over the past few years. I find myself constantly drawn to new highlights to add more glow to my face. I generally only highlight the tops of my cheek bones as I have oily skin. I have to be strategic to avoid looking greasy. However, I don’t let that get in the way of getting my highlight on! I’ve heard many oily skinned people say they avoid highlighting but honestly, I think if it’s applied right, anyone can pull it off. Today I want to share with you some of my favourite highlights!

This highlight is essential in everyone’s make up collection. I have seen it applied on so many different skin tones and it looks amazing on all of them! This is a pretty intense highlight so blending and using a light hand is essential. When applied properly it adds such a beautiful glow to the face. It’s a beautiful “honey” shade that can also be used as an eye shadow! This is definitely a staple in my collection and no matter how many other highlights I purchase, I reach for this one time and time again! Continue reading →

Hi guys! Oh my goodness you need this palette! I’m just going to cut straight to the chase, it’s amazing. Okay, now that I have that out of the way… I started seeing YouTuber Laura Lee’s collaboration with Violet Voss pop up all over the Snapchat of basically every beauty YouTuber that I follow. I had heard of her, but I hadn’t really watched any of her videos. I couldn’t believe how amazing this palette looked! The swatches looked super pigmented, and buttery smooth so I was instantly intrigued. I started watching her channel and was hooked! After watching her video where she talks about the palette in more detail, I knew I had to mark the pre-sale date on my calendar because I knew these babies would fly off the shelf. Boy, am I glad I did because I am in love!

The palette itself is mostly warm toned, but she did add a few cool toned shades as well to balance it out. There is a nice mix of mattes, shimmers and metallic shades so you have everything you need for a complete look. The palette is nice and compact so between that and the ability to do several different complete eye shadow looks with it, it would be great for travel. If you haven’t already seen it, you need to see her video on this where she talks about each shadow and why she picked each name. You can find that video here! A lot of the names are inspired by Alabama which is where she is from. I’m not sure if this was just for the pre-sale but the palette also came with a photo signed by Laura Lee herself which was a nice touch! Continue reading →

This is a beautiful nude palette from Essence, which is a super inexpensive brand that I have been loving lately. The shades all swatched really nicely so I’m excited to play with it more and create some looks with it!

Another stunning palette from Essence! This one features pink-toned shades and again, swatched beautifully. The only one that swatched a little strangely was “Natural Beauty”… it was super soft and almost looked like it balled up or like fluff. I blended it out with my finger and it worked just fine! Both of these palettes come with little cards with ideas on how to use the shadows together which is a nice touch!

Ipsy Glam Bag: June

Hi guys! It’s time for another Ipsy Glam Bag! I have really been enjoying subscribing to Ipsy. At first I wasn’t sure about subscription services because I figured, for what I spend on it a year, I could buy something full-sized from Sephora which I would probably use/enjoy more. However, while I still do kind of think that because I don’t always use all my samples up, I think they are great for trying new brands/products! I love waiting to see what kind of items they have sent me and I’ve got a lot of winners so far! You can check out my other Ipsy Glam Bags here!

While my eye is still not completely healed, I decided to film my Ipsy bag anyways because it is feeling significantly better today and is much less red. I keep saying I’m going to “film my next Ipsy Glam Bag” and then something happens which causes me to have to write the post instead, but this time, eye-be-damned, I’m filming! At least my eye is much less sensitive to sunlight today, I think I will actually be able to leave the house in daylight! If you didn’t read my last post, I talked about what happened to my eye and you can find that post here! I haven’t filmed in awhile so I am a bit rusty so it is very short but I’ll get back into the swing of things!

Drugstore Haul!

Hi guys! Wednesday evening I was experiencing quite a bit of pain and irritation in one of my eyes which just seemed to get worse as the night progressed. I decided to try to go to sleep to see if I would wake up and feel better (I feel like this is my body’s equivalent of trying to restart a device when you’re troubleshooting). The pain was so unbearable I barely slept so on Thursday when I woke up to a totally bloodshot eye, I decided to take a trip to the Emergency Room. After a very quick visit (so thankful it was quiet in the morning!) I learned I had an abrasion on my cornea. While waiting for my prescribed eye drops at Shopper’s Drugmart I decided to browse and treat myself to a few things! Thankfully the freezing drops were still working from the ER so I could handle daylight… Once they wore off… it was shut curtains and sunglasses indoors for me because when you have an abrasion on you cornea the sun feels like laser beams.

Let’s take a look at what I purchased to lift my spirits!

I’ve had my eye on the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams for awhile. I’ve seen mixed reviews on them, but I want to try them myself. They have a bit of a mousse-y texture so I’m looking forward to trying this on my lips! I picked out the shade San Paulo. I also picked up the Essence Get BIG! Lashes Mascara as I’ve really enjoyed the other items from Essence that I have tried so far! I like a variety of different types of mascaras on-hand so I decided to go for a volume-boosting formula. Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara

Hi guys! Every 3-4 months it is suggested that you replace your mascara. I have been trying to do this quarterly to make it easier to keep track. I’ve been using theRevlon Dramatic Definition Mascara since the beginning of May and I am ready to share my thoughts on it!

The Revlon Mascara collection has something for everyone… They have a formula for volume, length, volume + length, dramatic definition and an all-in-one. I chose the Dramatic Definition formula as it claims to separate and define every lash which seemed appealing to me. It was a toss up between this one and the all-in-one and I think I chose wisely.

The wand is plastic and tiered to make sure that you don’t miss a lash. It’s fairly average sized so it is fairly easy to work with. It’s even pretty easy to use with your bottom lashes! The formula glides on and dries to a nice weightless finish. This is one of those mascaras where if you happen to touch your lashes, you don’t feel like you’re wearing mascara. Hi guys! It has been awhile since I’ve done a tag post so I thought I would search the internet to see what kinds of fun tags I could find… I ended up finding a beauty version of the “Would You Rather?” Tag which looked too fun to pass up! I’m not sure where it originated from, but the source where I found it is right here!

1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or Nice hair and no make-up?

Messy hair and nice make-up… this is probably what I look like almost every day of my life! I’m so challenged when it comes to my hair!

2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

This is a super tough one…. I guess I could always apply false lashes and have it at least look a bit more natural than having to draw eyebrows on from scratch… so lets say have all my lashes fall out.

3. Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
