Ipsy Glam Bag: June

Ipsy-Glam-Bag-June-2016.jpg

Hi guys! It’s time for another Ipsy Glam Bag! I have really been enjoying subscribing to Ipsy. At first I wasn’t sure about subscription services because I figured, for what I spend on it a year, I could buy something full-sized from Sephora which I would probably use/enjoy more. However, while I still do kind of think that because I don’t always use all my samples up, I think they are great for trying new brands/products! I love waiting to see what kind of items they have sent me and I’ve got a lot of winners so far! You can check out my other Ipsy Glam Bags here!

While my eye is still not completely healed, I decided to film my Ipsy bag anyways because it is feeling significantly better today and is much less red. I keep saying I’m going to “film my next Ipsy Glam Bag” and then something happens which causes me to have to write the post instead, but this time, eye-be-damned, I’m filming! At least my eye is much less sensitive to sunlight today, I think I will actually be able to leave the house in daylight! If you didn’t read my last post, I talked about what happened to my eye and you can find that post here! I haven’t filmed in awhile so I am a bit rusty so it is very short but I’ll get back into the swing of things!

Drugstore Haul!

Shoppers-Drugmart-Haul.jpg

Hi guys! Wednesday evening I was experiencing quite a bit of pain and irritation in one of my eyes which just seemed to get worse as the night progressed. I decided to try to go to sleep to see if I would wake up and feel better (I feel like this is my body’s equivalent of trying to restart a device when you’re troubleshooting). The pain was so unbearable I barely slept so on Thursday when I woke up to a totally bloodshot eye, I decided to take a trip to the Emergency Room. After a very quick visit (so thankful it was quiet in the morning!) I learned I had an abrasion on my cornea. While waiting for my prescribed eye drops at Shopper’s Drugmart I decided to browse and treat myself to a few things! Thankfully the freezing drops were still working from the ER so I could handle daylight… Once they wore off… it was shut curtains and sunglasses indoors for me because when you have an abrasion on you cornea the sun feels like laser beams.

Let’s take a look at what I purchased to lift my spirits!

NYX-Soft-Matte-Lip-Cream-Essence-Get-Big-Lashes.jpg

I’ve had my eye on the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams for awhile. I’ve seen mixed reviews on them, but I want to try them myself. They have a bit of a mousse-y texture so I’m looking forward to trying this on my lips! I picked out the shade San Paulo. I also picked up the Essence Get BIG! Lashes Mascara as I’ve really enjoyed the other items from Essence that I have tried so far! I like a variety of different types of mascaras on-hand so I decided to go for a volume-boosting formula. Can’t wait to try it! Continue reading

Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara

Revlon-Dramatic-Definition-Mascara2.jpg

Hi guys! Every 3-4 months it is suggested that you replace your mascara. I have been trying to do this quarterly to make it easier to keep track. I’ve been using theRevlon Dramatic Definition Mascara since the beginning of May and I am ready to share my thoughts on it!

The Revlon Mascara collection has something for everyone… They have a formula for volume, length, volume + length, dramatic definition and an all-in-one. I chose the Dramatic Definition formula as it claims to separate and define every lash which seemed appealing to me. It was a toss up between this one and the all-in-one and I think I chose wisely.

The wand is plastic and tiered to make sure that you don’t miss a lash. It’s fairly average sized so it is fairly easy to work with. It’s even pretty easy to use with your bottom lashes! The formula glides on and dries to a nice weightless finish. This is one of those mascaras where if you happen to touch your lashes, you don’t feel like you’re wearing mascara. There has been a few times where I’ve panicked because I thought I forgot to put on mascara! Continue reading

Love for Lipstick: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Kat-Von-D-Everlasting-Liquid-Lipstick-Double-Dare1.jpg

Hi guys! It’s time for another Love for Lipstick post and this one finishes off my last haul! My next Love for Lipstick post will be a beauty from the drugstore, so keep an eye out for that, but today we are going to talk about the lovely Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks!

Application with the doe-foot applicator and the slightly moussey formula is easy! Some liquid lipsticks go from zero to all over the place but not this one! With this one I am always able to get a precise application.

Kat-Von-D-Everlasting-Liquid-Lipstick-Double-Dare.jpg

1. Freshly applied at 8 am 2. After eating lunch (soup) at 12:30 pm 3. Last check-in at 5 pm

The wear-time is also pretty great as well! It wore a little bit in the centre from eating/drinking throughout the day but with this shade it didn’t look obvious at all. Upon a normal glance you would never notice in person. It doesn’t feel drying throughout the day and almost keeps a very very slight tackiness to it for the first bit half of the day. It also doesn’t transfer at all. Continue reading

Wednesday Wishes: Summer Edition

Wednesday Wishes.jpg

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I did a wish list so I thought it would be fun to do one focused on products that I am eyeing up for the summer months. I don’t generally follow season-specific rules, but as the weather changes so does the needs of my skin, and I just find myself reaching for brighter colours!

Urban Decay | Vice Lipstick

I’ve been eagerly anticipating the launch of the Vice Lipsticks from Urban Decay, mainly because I love, love, love their Revolution Lipsticks. I’m really hoping these will be just as good, or better! I do like the different formulas in the range and like usual, I am drawn to the mattes. I would love to try all the formulas, but right now I am enticed by Vanity Kills (Mega Matte) and Backtalk (Comfort Matte). Vanity Kills looks like a fun lavender shade for the summer. Backtalk looks like a perfect everyday mauvey-nude which would go with a more “natural” looking every day look. I tend to wear less makeup on an average summer day since I’m doing more outdoor activities like going for a walk, hike or spending the weekend at the cottage.

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Modern Renaissance Palette

Anastasia-Beverly-Hills-Modern-Renaissance-Palette

I absolutely loved the Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette (and still do!) so it is no surprised I am drawn to this beauty. This looks like a beautiful array of pinks and warm-toned shades that again, would be perfect for the summer! There looks like there are some great neutrals for a very simple look, but lots of brights if you want to add some colour! Continue reading

Hi guys! I’ve been posting like crazy about the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection lately. You can see my previous posts in the following links: Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face PaletteMOTD: Let it Glow! & Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eye Palette. To finish off this mini “series” I wanted to do a look using both palettes! They compliment each other beautifully so I couldn’t wait to pair them!

May Empties

May Empties.jpg

Hi guys! I don’t normally do a monthly empties post (I did a “Empties So Far” style post in April) but in May I finished enough stuff to be worthy of it’s own post! I was pretty excited when I looked at my stash of finished products and saw this many items, so let’s go through them!

Skin Care

Garnier-SkinActive-Micellar-Water-Spectro-Cleanser

Garnier | SkinActive Micellar Water (Waterproof)

I was really sad to finish this product. It’s really great for removing making and really cut time in my night-time routine. Prior to using this I was removing my face makeup and eye makeup with different products. Definitely a great product, this was my first Micellar Water and I look forward to trying more. Would I repurchase it? Yes! Absolutely. I also did a first impressions post on this product which you can find here!

Spectro | Cleanser for Blemish-Prone Skin

I can’t believe how long this thing lasted me. In fact, I can’t even remember when I purchased it. This is a very gentle cleanser that does a great job at cleansing the skin. I chose the blemish-prone skin formula since my skin airs on the oily side. I actually don’t get many blemishes but I find this one helps with my oil. Would I repurchase it? Yes, and I already did! Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eye Palette

becca-jaclyn-hill-champagne-collection-eye-palette.jpg

Hi guys! I normally don’t post until Wednesday but I was too excited and had to share this right away. Last week when the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eye Palette launched I jumped onto the Sephora website and grabbed one. The Face Palette was so amazing that I just couldn’t pass this up. So today will be another “first impressions” style post so I’ll have a look with this palette coming shortly as well. As I type this I have just received it in the mail so I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet but I just had to get some swatches up for you guys!

becca-jaclyn-hill-champagne-collection-eye-palette-1.jpg

This palette is so stunning and looks like a great addition to my makeup collection. I’ve never used Becca eye shadows but I’ve heard great things! The colours are in the warm/neutral family and include two shimmers and three mattes. Basically, you have everything you need for a beautiful eye look. Continue reading

May Favourites

May-Favourites-Urban-Decay-Becca-Too-Faced-Kat-Von-D.jpg

Hi guys! It’s time to go over my monthly favourites! I was going to film a video to go along with this however I have a cold so my voice sounds terrible. But, writing about these wonderful products lifts my spirits and makes me feel better!

Too-Faced-Lady-Balls-Kat-Von-D-Double-Dare.jpg

Too Faced | Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Lady Balls

I am obsessed with this liquid lipstick. It’s a beautiful true and is super long-wearing. You can find my rave review of it here! I can’t wait to pick up more shades from this line, the wear-time is unbelievable. And, who can resist a hilarious name like Lady Balls?

Version 2

L to R: Too Faced Lady Balls & Kat Von D Double Dare

Kat Von D | Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare

I have definitely been having a liquid lipstick moment lately and this is another one that I have been wearing lots. It’s described as a cocoa blush shade and I think it is great for everyday wear. I’ll be reviewing it for one of my next Love for Lipstick post to wrap up my last haul. It has great wear time and feels like it goes with everything. Continue reading
