Hi guys! Today I have a Makeup Geek haul for you! Around the holidays they had a sale on quite a few of their items so I thought that was the perfect opportunity to pick up a few more of their products. I already own and love quite a few of their foiled eye shadows but I had always been meaning to try more. With the Canadian dollar and cost of shipping what it currently is, I was holding out for some kind of sale. Makeup Geek is already a very reasonably priced and quality brand though. Colourpop Haul: Trying New Things!

Hi guys! If you’ve been here before, you’ll know that I love Colourpop! A few weeks ago they had a free international shipping promo with no minimum so I took that as an opportunity to order a few items. I decided to stick to products I haven’t tried of theirs, so I picked up a highlighter and a few of their gel eye liners! Items that I have had my eye on, but previously had been sidetracked by a wealth of lip products. As of writing this post, I haven’t tried these products on my face yet so in this post you’ll hear my first impressions from swatching them. I’ll do some full reviews once I’ve familiarized myself with everything, and of course, you’ll probably see them in a makeup look or two before that 😉

Colourpop | Hippo Highligher

I’ve had my eye on Colourpop’s highlighters for quite some time but when I saw the shade Hippo, I finally decided to take the plunge. This icy lavender shade is very unique to my collection and I can’t wait to wear it. The texture is similar to Colourpop’s eye shadows in that they have the unique spongey/creamy texture. My swatch does not do it justice!

Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 5 (Colour 1)

Hi guys! This is my last eye shadow palette from my birthday hauls (birthday and VIB sale) and I saved the most luxurious for last, the Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 5 (Colour 1). I’d had my eye on Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes for quite some time now and with the VIB sale, I had all the convincing that I needed to pull the trigger.

Though pickings were slimming during the VIB sale, I ended up choosing Colour 1 out of all of the Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 5 options available. I wanted something with an interesting and unique colour selection. This particular palette contains one matte shade and four shimmers. The first three shades are more shimmery and satiny and the last one is more of a glitter.

Top 5 Holiday Lipsticks

Hi guys! I can’t believe it’s this time of year already. As I write this, I can see the snow banks outside my house. So, in an attempt to try to be festive, I thought I’d share some of my favourite go-to holiday lipsticks. When those inevitable holiday parties and dinners come around, you can bet I’ll be wearing one of these!

NYX | Butter Gloss in Red Velvet

I am not a gloss person, but the holiday season tends to be a glossy, glittery and shiny time of the year. As far as glosses go, the NYX Butter Glosses are great because they pack on sheer to medium coverage and they don’t feel sticky. The shade Red Velvet is a beautiful cherry red and thus earns it’s spot in my go-to holiday lipsticks.

Too Faced | Melted Matte Lipstick in Lady Balls

Liquid lipsticks are everything to me so, it should be no surprise that I’ve got Too Faced Lady Balls on my list of top holiday lipsticks. I gave this lipstick a pretty rave review so it’s also just a favourite in general. Continue reading →

Maison Jacynthe Makeup Review

Hi guys! Maison Jacynthe was kind enough to send me some of their newly launched makeup items for review and after a few weeks of testing, I am ready to share my thoughts on them! They are a fairly new Canadian company, founded in 2014 by Jacynthe René who is an actress and a producer. Their makeup line launched on August 28, 2016 and is formulated with active and natural ingredients.

Maison Jacynthe: The Lipsticks

Being the matte lipstick lover that I am, I chose two of from this line to test. I’ve worn both of them extensively and have found the formula to be very consistent between the two shades. The formula is creamy and glides onto the lips when you apply it. There is no ‘dragging’ sensation that you may find with some matte lipsticks. Continue reading →

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Hi guys! Today I thought I would share with you my first impressions, swatches and look using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette! While this palette has been out for quite a few months now, it’s new to me. I knew this palette one day had to me mine after how hard I fell in love with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette. The shadow quality in that palette knocked my socks off.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette is mainly a warm toned palette, with a few cool shades added in to balance it out. It contains both fourteen eye shadows which contain mattes and shimmers. As long as these shades appeal to you, you have everything you need for several different looks in one place. While this palette had a summer release, it mostly screams “fall” to me (though I would wear these shades all year round).

The shadow quality itself is excellent. It reminds me of my beloved Self-Made Palette so I am one happy camper. The shadows kick off some dust so you just need to make sure you tap off your brush before application to avoid fall-out. All of the shades I’ve used to date are pigmented and very much blendable which makes application a breeze. Continue reading →

3 ‘Pop of Colour’ Blushes

Hi guys! A week or so ago I posted about 3 Natural Looking Blushes so today I thought I’d go the other direction and talk about 3 blushes that add a pop of colour to your cheeks. So these are less natural and more pigmented. My choices still do blend beautifully into the skin, they just stand out a little more.

Urban Decay | Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Rapture

I think this is the only cool toned blush that I own but I love how different it is from the rest of my collection. Rapture is a beautiful deep purply mauve shade and definitely adds a pop of colour to the cheeks! It has a very, very subtle hint of shimmer but I find it looks more matte than anything.

3 Natural Looking Blushes

Hi guys! Blush was a makeup step that I overlooked for years. Until probably about 2 to 3 years ago, I never wore blush. While I switch up the intensity and shade of my blush depending on the look I’m going for, I love a good natural looking blush! Today I thought I would share 3 of my favourites!

Urban Decay | Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Fetish

This is by far one of my favourite blushes ever. You can’t tell by looking at it, but I wear this shade almost every day! If I don’t know which blush I want to wear, this matte beauty is what will end up on my face. It is very pigmented so just a tiny tap of a brush into the product is all you need to get a light dusting of pinky-nude blush! I’ve yet to find a makeup look that this shade doesn’t go with.

A Week of the Kat Von D MetalMatte Palette

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve shown you a week’s worth of looks from a palette so today I have a week of the Kat Von D MetalMatte Palette for you! I recently got this palette and as soon as I opened it for the very first time, fell in love.

Colourpop Haul: It’s About Time!

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I last did a Colourpop haul so it’s about time for another one! I’d been wanting to order more from them but the bad Canadian dollar and cost of shipping was holding me back. But, they had a promotion a few weeks ago that made international shipping much more affordable so I placed an order! I don’t normally mind paying their shipping because the products are so inexpensive but I knew they were due for SOME kind of promotion.

As you can see, I mostly stuck to lip products. Specifically, the Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks. I hadn’t tried this formula but have been wanting to for quite some time.

Let’s take a closer look at my Colourpop Haul!

Lumiere 2: This is an Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick that is in collaboration with YouTuber KathleenLights. I adore the Lumiere Lippie Stix so I knew the liquid lipstick version had to be mine. I’ll post a comparison of the two formulas on Instagram later on today! Lumiere is such a beautiful dusty mauve/pink!
Baracuda: This is one of the Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks and is a newer launch for Colourpop. This shade is described as a warm deepened rose. I thought this colour would be beautiful for fall!
Marshmallow: This is another Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick. After seeing Marshmallow for the first time, I knew one day it had to be mine. I love a good purple lipstick and this one is definitely unique to my collection.
Femme: The shade Femme is another Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick and is also a newer launch. Femme seemed like another unique colour to my collection and is purple! Colourpop describes it as a muted dirty lilac. Beautiful!
Dove: We are straying from the lip products and going into uncharted territory with Dove! This is one of their Sculpting Stix! I’ve been intrigued by these since they launched. I chose Dove as it is a light cool-toned taupe so I think this would be best for my skin tone but we shall see!
