MAC Pro Palette Refill Pans Haul

Hi guys! I recently found out that MAC has reduced the price of their Pro Palette Refill Eyeshadow Pans from $12 to $8 which I thought was pretty great. I like buying the refill pans to put into my Z-Palette, rather than buying the shadows in the plastic casing for $19. They also have a promotion going on until Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 11:59 pm for free express shipping (no minimum) if you use the code “MACEXP” at the checkout. Given both of these factors I decided to pick up a few shades that I had been eyeing up!

February Favourites

Love for Lipstick: Round One

Hi guys! One of my goals this year is to try different lip products ranging from drugstore to high end. I tend to go for the same lipstick lines such as the Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks and the Colourpop Lippie Stix (to name a few). While I still love them dearly, I also want to switch it up and see what else is out there.

I was just causally browsing the Sephora website and they had a “Lip Boldly” feature on the front page that caught my eye. One thing led to another and I added quite a few to my loves list that I wanted to eventually try. I’m going to continue to order a few in every once and awhile so this is the first batch. I’m also going to pick up lipsticks from the drugstore as well throughout the year. My plan is to eventually do a big collective comparison closer to the end of the year! For now, this Love for Lipstick series will primarily be hauls, but will eventually include mini comparisons.

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette

Drugstore Haul

Hi guys! I ventured into Shopper’s Drugmart yesterday and found quite a few items that I’ve been thinking about purchasing on sale so I decided to take some of them home with me. I almost never go into Shopper’s Drugmart to buy makeup since if I buy anything drugstore I usually just grab it while I’m grocery shopping. However, I saw over on Stashmatters’ Instagram that she spotted a NYX display at her local Shopper’s so I had to see if we had one too. I was super surprised to see that we did!

I had been wanting to try the NYX Micro Brow Pencil for quite some time so that is the item I went for when I saw the NYX display. It is supposed to be a dupe for the ABH Brow-Wiz. I’ve only ever swatched the brow-wiz in a Sephora (they didn’t have my colour in stock so I couldn’t take it home with me) but they do seem very similar. I can’t wait to try penciling in my brows with it! I purchased the shade taupe.

The Maybelline Colour Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks is another product from the drugstore that I’ve been eyeing up. They were on sale (and super picked-over) but I managed to grab one in the shade Mesmerizing Magenta. It’s a very pretty bright pink shade and it definitely felt creamy to apply when I swatched it on my arm. Continue reading →

February Birchbox Unboxing

Hi guys! Today’s post is a bittersweet one as it will be my last Birchbox unboxing post. Birchbox announced last week that they were stopping service to Canada and that my subscription would be cancelled after the February box. Needless to say, I’m incredibly disappointed. They have indicated that it is due to increased shipping costs and the exchange rate. I’ve really enjoyed Birchbox and am sad that I only had it for a short time. I did however subscribe to Ipsy because I enjoy getting a monthly beauty subscription. Hopefully I’ll receive my first beauty bag in March and hopefully they don’t follow suit and end services to Canada too.

For my February box (because I didn’t know at the time it would be my last) I opted in for the Date Night themed box as the items sounded like I would enjoy them all. So no surprises for me this month! Continue reading →

Sephora Samples

Hi guys! I love receiving samples from Sephora. It’s a great way to try new products without breaking the bank. On my last Sephora order I cashed in on some points and added took advantage of one of their weekly specials since there were some perks that interested me.

I’m excited to try this one! I haven’t tried any of the “They’re Real” products from Benefit. I don’t have high expectations for the eyeliner as I’ve heard lots of negative reviews. It took me a bit to figure out how to use it to even get a swatch. It’s a good concept, gel liner in an applicator, but it’s kind of hard to use. If you do get it to work, it seems to last. I took a makeup remover wipe to get rid of my swatches and it removed everything but the eye liner. Perhaps the makeup remover sample will do the trick! I mostly went for this kit to get the mascara. Hi guys! I have another video for you today using the Coastal Scents glamourEYES Palette. I recently used my Birchbox points to get it so I got it for free which was a huge bonus! Regularly it costs $16 CAD on the Birchbox website. I had a sample of two of the shadows from this palette and I was really impressed with the pigmentation. As well, I saw some reviews on other blogs that helped seal the deal.

January Birchbox Unboxing

Hi guys! My January Birchbox arrived yesterday which is always an exciting moment! However, I constantly spoil them for myself by checking on the Birchbox website to see which items they are sending me. Why do I do that to myself? As my husband pointed out, after he said “you already know what’s in there don’t you?”, it is much more fun to keep it a surprise. I’m going to have to do everything in my power to avoid temptation next month and truly keep it a surprise!

This month’s box came with stickers to customize the front of the box so I chose “ambition”. This year I’m going to work harder and I’m going to aim higher. I am going to set my goals and I’m going to work hard to achieve them. I’m going to spend more time working on this blog and my YouTube channel because they make me happy.  Continue reading →
