Q2 Empties: April to June 2018

I have been dying to sit down and make time to write this empties post considering Q2 ended a couple of weeks ago. My husband has asked me more than once if I’ve wrote it yet so I can throw out my garbage (blogger husband problems?), haha! If you follow me on Instagram you already know why I’ve been absent a lot lately. However, if you do not… I recently announced that my husband and I bought our forever home so we have been busting our asses finishing the renovations/updates to our current house.

There’s a pretty good reason why I have been so silent blogging and instagramming lately… my husband & I bought our forever home which has meant picking up the pace on renovating our current house. Exciting times are ahead!! 😁💕🎉

With how sunny it has been lately Canada Day feels like it is right around the corner. I love doing a festive manicure every year to celebrate this special day. Butter London Henley Regatta

It may not be Monday but I still wanted to share the manicure that I’m wearing this week with you. I’ve had Butter London Henley Regatta in my polish collection for quite a few years now but I don’t think I’ve shared it on the blog yet. This weeks manicure was inspired by my Little Mermaid Makeup Look that I shared earlier this week. I really wanted to combine a purple base (Essie Gel Couture in Turn N Pose) with this glittery teal beauty. The end result is a bit more reminiscent of a peacock but it’s all good! Little Mermaid Inspired Makeup Look

For the last week or so I’ve had a makeup look in my mind that I wanted to create. I wanted to create something inspired by the Little Mermaid. Meaning… I wanted to combine some foily purples and greens along with a pinky-red lip. Though I didn’t end up using the products exactly as I had envisioned I was quite pleased with how this Little Mermaid inspired makeup look turned out. May Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

For the first time ever I don’t feel like a month just flew by. I actually felt like May took a reasonable amount of time. The kitchen reno mayhem at the beginning of the month feels like it was already so long ago. May was a fantastic month… we finished painting the kitchen (flooring still to be put down), we had a lovely Cinqo de Mayo party with our friends, the beautiful warm weather arrived and I went on many hikes with my husband. It’s amazing what the warm weather and nature will do to the soul. Being outside hiking and seeing the beautiful scenery is so inspiring and really makes me appreciate living in North Western Ontario. All of these beautiful sights are right here ready to be taken in. No long commutes required! But I digress.. let’s chat about my favourites from the month of May because that is why we are all here! Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

Kat Von D’s makeup line recently turned ten years old. In celebration she launched a beautiful limited edition collection because how else would you celebrate such an achievement? While the collection in it’s entirety looked stunning, I only picked up the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette. She always knocks it out of the park with her eyeshadow palettes and this one with all of it’s rainbowy goodness just had to be mine. Essence Vibrant Purple

Nothing says spring/summer like a bright manicure. I recently picked up Essence Vibrant Purple from their Gel Polish lineup and I couldn’t resist getting it onto my nails right away. It’s a beautiful orchid purpley-pink shade that reminds me of a field of flowers. I’ve used a few of the Essence Gel Polish shades over the past couple of years and I’m constantly impressed by their wear time. They are also great for summer pedicures as well! Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Palette: Warm Eyeshadow Look

I purchased the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Palette on launch day and since it arrived in the mail I have been wearing it so much! I do plan on doing a review of the palette but I couldn’t wait to share one of the looks that I created with this palette. I love fire-y warm eyeshadow looks so I was drawn to the gold shimmer shade and the warm matte shades. These types of shades make me so happy and to me, just never get old. But although I love these shades, I can’t wait to share the other looks that I’ve created with this palette with you!
