What’s in my Z-Palette?

Z-Palette

I mostly talk about palettes here on the blog since I am a self-proclaimed “palette junkie” but I do own an almost complete Z-Palette full of single shadows. I thought it would be fun to go through them today and share with you what is in my custom palette. I enjoyed this because it reminded me that I have some great single shadows that I need to dig out more, and also reminded me that I need to pick up more Makeup Geek single shadows because they are aaaamazing, particularly their foiled formula. Once I complete this palette I’m going to look into getting another empty palette so if you have any suggestions for magnetic palettes let me know in the comments!

Red & Gold Makeup Look

Red & Gold Makeup Look

One of my goals for this year is to experiment more with makeup and really work on improving my eye makeup game. Winged eyeliner is definitely a component of this, so be prepared to see more wings! This makeup look is from Sunday and the motivation behind for me is a little trip down memory lane. Sunday was, as you all know, was the Super Bowl. Sports are not my thing, I think it’s great that people are into watching them but I’ve just never had any desire to get into it. However, it did get me thinking that the last football game I watched was when I was in high school when I would regularly go watch my school’s team, the Hammarskjold Vikings, with my friends. Some of my best and worst memories were at those games so today I’m sharing with you the red and gold (our school colours) makeup look I created inspired by these memories.

January Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

January Favourites 2018

January was a pretty great month. I started off the month (and the year) in Paris, France with my husband so the rest of this year is going to have a hard time stacking up to January. I started getting into experimenting with makeup a bit more again, trying out a few different looks which I’ve posted here. It’s going to be a great year, I can just feel it! But, on that note, let’s take a look at which products were getting the most love in January!

Zoeva | Cocoa Blend

I picked up this palette from Sephora in Paris since I haven’t really seen it in Canada but I’ve seen it all over YouTube over the past few years. It is definitely more of a neutral palette, but what drew my eye to it was the purple shade, Delicate Acidity. I posted a look using the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette last week mixing it’s warm and cool tones. I’ve been using it a lot this month and have been really enjoying it. I’ll be sure to dedicate a post to it and swatch it soon! Continue reading

Glitter Eye Makeup Look: Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner

December was a busy month, I had meant to post more holiday inspired makeup looks but only managed to get one up. However, I’ve been wanting to do a silvery/purple makeup look with the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in the shade Glamrock that I picked up in December. So, since I had a birthday party to go to I decided to create the look that I didn’t get a chance to do for the holiday season. I had also meant to post something using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette so this worked out perfectly!

Palette Spotlight: Urban Decay Naked Palette

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Today’s Palette Spotlight is certainly not a new palette but, if I’m going to go through my palette collection with you guys, I have to start somewhere. The original Urban Decay Naked Palette seems like a very logical place to start for me. This has been my go-to palette again for the last little while. I’ve been sick all month so when I just want to throw a little makeup on to look less deathly, this is the neutral palette I’ve been going for.

Urban Decay Naked Palette Packaging

I’m not so fond of the packaging for this palette as I find fuzzy material like this hard to keep clean and it attracts everything. I’m glad they strayed from this and started using plastic for the Naked palettes that came after the original. Continue reading

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

Urban Decay is by far one of my favourite brands, so when I saw they had released a new mascara, my interest was definitely captured. However, I don’t usually purchase many high end mascaras as there are so many great drug store ones so I didn’t immediately jump on board. When I saw that the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara was part of the Sephora Favourites Lashstash as one of the full sized products it sealed the deal on that purchase. The Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara promises to “[deliver] a lengthening, perfectly fanned-out look with extreme volume for longer, thicker-looking lashes”. Let’s see how it delivered on this promise!

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

First off, the packaging is quite sleek. It is a shiny duo-chrome tube that is really quite eye-catching. The brush has tiny hooks to grab each lash and apply the product to ensure no lash is missed. I quite like the size of it, it isn’t too big or too small. It worked well for both the top and bottom lashes. Continue reading

Halloween 2017: Galaxy & Zombie

Halloween 2017

Halloween is hands down my favourite holiday. Nothing beats dressing up in a costume and going out. Usually I purchase a costume, but this year I thought I’d try something different and put the costumes together myself. I have to say, Instagram was a huge inspiration for this. Between seeing so many posts of galaxy makeup and zombie makeup I had a lot of ideas swiming around my head. My galaxy costume was my main costume this year and I spent my weekends working on it. Since I was going out twice, I also decided to do the zombie costume after seeing what my sister had planned for that night. So, let’s take a look at my costumes, shall we?

Night 1: Galaxy Costume

Galaxy Costume

For my galaxy costume I knew I wanted to get a black body suit and sponge paint it. The skirt was a spontaneous add-on when I went to buy the body suit. This also gave me something to adhere my planets to. The planets were all hand-painted on styrofoam balls and velcroed to the skirt. I am shocked that I only lost one planet when I wore this out. Funny enough I lost Earth, so I’m working on re-painting it so I can wear this again on Tuesday. Continue reading

October Collective Haul

October Collective Haul

Hi guys! We aren’t quite at the end of the month yet, but I’m ready to share what I’ve hauled over the course of the month with you. It was supposed to be a small haul this month, however great deals and discounts seemed to change that quickly. So, let’s check out what caught my eye and came home with my this month!

Sephora.ca Orders

Anastasia Beverly Hills Haul

I ordered both of these items separately but it made sense to group them together in one photo. The first item I purchased this month was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow in the shade Ash Brown. I had got a sample of this last month and loved how it matched my darker hair better than the Taupe shade that I used to use. Later on in the month when the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette was part of the Sephora Wow Deals, I just could not pass it up. I wanted it when it first came out and ended up passing on it, but at 50% off I couldn’t say no. I’m excited to play with mixing different lipstick shades! Continue reading

Fall Favourites

Fall Favourites

Hi guys! The air has DEFINITELY gotten a lot cooler around here lately with temperatures even dipping into the negatives overnight. Before the fall season leaves us for the dreaded winter, I thought I’d share five random fall favourites of mine (in no particular order). These are five things that without a doubt remind me of fall.

Kat Von D | Monarch Palette

I so badly wish this wasn’t discontinued, and although I do rock it all year round, my classic go-to look using it ALWAYS reminds me of fall. Even if I wear it in any other season (which I do) it reminds me of fall. I’ll have to recreate it now that I have a better camera and lighting set up! I really do wear warm shades all year round but they always remind me of the crisp fall leaves. Some other GREAT alternatives that are currently available include the Morphe 35O Palette and the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette which are both fantastic choices if you like to rock warm eyeshadow, like myself! MOTD: Neutral Eye + Purple Lips & Cheeks

Hi guys! Today I thought I’d share the makeup that I’m wearing on my face today. My only inspiration for today was that I wanted to finally try the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade Halo sample that I picked up from Sephora a few months ago. I was quite enamoured with it once I saw it on Makeup Your Mind (her photos of this highlight are STUNNING!) and decided to give it a shot. I don’t normally go for liquid highlights as I have oily skin and everything must be powdered. Full discloser, I did end up setting this with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Prismatic Amethyst. It not only helped set it but also helped diffuse it a bit as I was going to a day time event.

So for this look I tried both combining a TINY amount into my foundation and I also added some to my cheekbones. I think next time I’d add a little more to my foundation to see if it makes a difference. I do set everything with a matte powder but it did add a little bit of a glow from within regardless which is what I was going for.
