May Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

May Favourites

For the first time ever I don’t feel like a month just flew by. I actually felt like May took a reasonable amount of time. The kitchen reno mayhem at the beginning of the month feels like it was already so long ago. May was a fantastic month… we finished painting the kitchen (flooring still to be put down), we had a lovely Cinqo de Mayo party with our friends, the beautiful warm weather arrived and I went on many hikes with my husband. It’s amazing what the warm weather and nature will do to the soul. Being outside hiking and seeing the beautiful scenery is so inspiring and really makes me appreciate living in North Western Ontario. All of these beautiful sights are right here ready to be taken in. No long commutes required! But I digress.. let’s chat about my favourites from the month of May because that is why we are all here!

Makeup

Kat Von D | 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

I purchased the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette earlier this month on launch day and I am just so freaking obsessed with it. The possibilities with this palette are endless. I love that it is packed with colour and the formula, as per usual Kat Von D standards, is on point. Previous posts about this palette can be found here: Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Palette: Warm Eyeshadow Look & Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

Colourpop | Lux Lipstick in Pinkies Up

Colourpop Lux Lipstick Pinkies Up

I think I’ve mentioned this in a favourites post previously but I’ve been wearing this lipstick SO MUCH. It goes with everything. It helps balance out a colourful eye makeup look, it looks great with a neutral look, it just looks great. If I’m not sure what to wear and I’m not wearing an overly warm eye shadow look you can bet I have this on my lips. If you’re at all curious about this formula I’ve also done a review, along with wear time photos: Colourpop Lux Lipstick

Skincare

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser

First Aid Beauty | Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser

I have oily skin and tend to have a lot of clogged pores in my nose and chin area so I picked up this lovely face wash during the Sephora VIB Sale back in April. What I love about it is that it is meant for deep cleaning but it doesn’t have texture to it. It feels very gentle on the skin and leaves my skin feeling very clean. I don’t use it every night, I use it about 2-3 times a week but I am really enjoying adding it to my routine.

Hiking

//www.instagram.com/embed.js

Can you guess I’ve been a bit obsessed with hiking this month? I posted a lot of my hiking adventures in my Instagram Stories. I’ve even added a little highlight reel to my Instagram so if you’re at all interested head over there to keep up with where I’ve been hiking! There are so many beautiful hiking trails around the Thunder Bay area. The photo above is actually from the Grand Marais, MN area (about 1.5 hrs from Thunder Bay) but there are many great hikes within Thunder Bay as well!

What were you guys loving in the month of May? Let me know in the comments below!

xoxo,

Robyn

  1. Wow that KVD eyeshadow palette is stunning! I’m not normally into colourful palettes but the colour range in that one is so pretty and seems pretty versatile.
I love hiking in the spring/summer too! We haven’t gotten out yet this year but plan to start up again come July. It’s such good exercise and it’s so nice to get out and breathe true fresh air!

    • Yeah! There is a little bit of everything in that palette. I started getting into colourful eye shadows by adding them as a pop of colour under my eyeliner under my eyes.

And yessss to hiking! I’m on a slight hiking hiatus due to major home renovation deadlines but I can’t wait to get back out there! Such amazing exercise and you just can’t beat some of the sights you stumble upon!
