Colourpop Haul: It’s About Time!

colourpop-haul-ultra-satin

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I last did a Colourpop haul so it’s about time for another one! I’d been wanting to order more from them but the bad Canadian dollar and cost of shipping was holding me back. But, they had a promotion a few weeks ago that made international shipping much more affordable so I placed an order! I don’t normally mind paying their shipping because the products are so inexpensive but I knew they were due for SOME kind of promotion.

As you can see, I mostly stuck to lip products. Specifically, the Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks. I hadn’t tried this formula but have been wanting to for quite some time.

Let’s take a closer look at my Colourpop Haul!

colourpop-haul-swatches-marshmallow

  1. Lumiere 2: This is an Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick that is in collaboration with YouTuber KathleenLights. I adore the Lumiere Lippie Stix so I knew the liquid lipstick version had to be mine. I’ll post a comparison of the two formulas on Instagram later on today! Lumiere is such a beautiful dusty mauve/pink!
  2. Baracuda: This is one of the Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks and is a newer launch for Colourpop. This shade is described as a warm deepened rose. I thought this colour would be beautiful for fall!
  3. Marshmallow: This is another Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick. After seeing Marshmallow for the first time, I knew one day it had to be mine. I love a good purple lipstick and this one is definitely unique to my collection.
  4. Femme: The shade Femme is another Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick and is also a newer launch. Femme seemed like another unique colour to my collection and is purple! Colourpop describes it as a muted dirty lilac. Beautiful!
  5. Dove: We are straying from the lip products and going into uncharted territory with Dove! This is one of their Sculpting Stix! I’ve been intrigued by these since they launched. I chose Dove as it is a light cool-toned taupe so I think this would be best for my skin tone but we shall see!

Here is the comparison for Lumiere from Instagram:

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

You’ll definitely be seeing me using these products in various posts and looks on the blog! I already have a few in mind 😉

Did you pick up anything when Colourpop had their international shipping promotion? If so, what did you get?! Let’s chat about your Colourpop Haul or anything else that’s on your mind in the comments down below!

Love for Lipstick: Urban Decay 1993

urban-decay-1993

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I last posted a Love for Lipstick post but I’ve got another lipstick to give you a full review of. Today we will be talking about the Urban Decay Vice Comfort Matte Formula. Specifically, we’ll be talking about Urban Decay 1993. If you’re unfamiliar with my Love for Lipstick series, this is my exploration of different lipsticks from different brands and price points to ultimately compile some comparisons and favourites. My current goal is to get through the formulas from the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick line. I’ve got Comfort Matte and Metallized formulas so I’ll be starting with those and will add more as I buy more of these.

So, as the same suggests, these are very comfortable matte lipsticks. They apply like a cream and dry down to a demi-matte finish (compared to say, a super matte liquid lipstick). I find the formula to be very pigmented and one swipe is enough to get the shade in the tube. I like to blot it with a tissue and then add a second layer just for extra durability though.

Urban Decay 1993 (Comfort Matte) Wear Test

urban-decay-1993-lip-swatch

  1. Freshly applied at 8 am (sorry this picture isn’t the greatest, it’s so dark in the mornings now!)
  2. Checking in at 12 pm! This is after eating breakfast, and drinking lots of tea and water throughout the morning.
  3. After eating lunch around 12:30 pm (the sun decided to come out and blind me for this round of photos)
  4. Final check in at 5 pm after an afternoon of more tea and water

I’m pretty impressed by the wear time for this lipstick. It isn’t as durable as say, a liquid lipstick, but it fades nicely and it isn’t so matte that you can’t rub your lips around to redistribute the pigment. It started to wear around the inside of the mouth around picture #3 but with this shade it wasn’t too noticeable unless you are looking for it. I’m not sure how a bolder colour would fare. Honestly though, I don’t really expect a tube lipstick to truly last all day like I do with a liquid lipstick.

Overall, I love this formula! It’s comfortable to wear, it’s pigmented and it has great wear time! Once I make my way through the rest of the Urban Decay Vice lipstick formulas I would definitely grab more of these. And, incase I haven’t mentioned it enough lately, I am in love with Urban Decay 1993. It’s everything I dreamed it to be and more!

What lipstick have you been obsessing over lately? Let me know in the comments down below! If you have missed any of my Love for Lipstick series you can find all of those posts here!

Fall Wishlist

fall-wishlist

Hi guys! While I had every intention of doing a Mani Monday post today, somehow the day disappeared and my nails are still bare! So, instead, since I was already planning on posting a Fall Wishlist this week, I thought I would post it early! This is a list of the items (mostly makeup) that I’ve currently got my eye on. Since the Sephora VIB sale and my birthday occur in November I thought I would get cracking on my wishlist!

Let’s take a closer look at what I’m currently coveting…

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Liquid Lipstick in Crush

anastasia-beverly-hills-liquid-lipstick-crush

I purchased my first Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick last month and I’ve been loving it! I’ll be doing a full post on it’s formula, wear-time and so on soon. With that said, I would absolutely love another and I’ve got my eye on Crush which is a soft pinky nude.

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Modern Renaissance Palette

anastasia-beverly-hills-modern-renaissance

I had this on my summer wishlist and didn’t get around to picking it up. It’s often out of stock online and when I had the chance to buy it last summer in Ulta, I ended up grabbing some American-exclusive items instead. Honestly though, this palette seems more like shades I would wear in the fall anyways!

Kat Von D | Shade + Light Refillable Contour Palette

kat-von-d-shade-light-contour-kit

I have been patiently waiting for this item to come out with a refillable version! I feel like refillable contour kits are so much more practical as there are clearly shades I would use a lot more than others. It has been hard resisting the original kit while I’ve been waiting!

Tarte | Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel

tarte-amazonian-clay-blush-palette-color-wheel

I’ve been eying up Tarte blushes for awhile! I have one in a duo I got years ago and I really enjoy the formula. This colour wheel is an excellent value for such an array of shades! And, there isn’t a single one I wouldn’t wear.

NARS | Blush in Sin

nars-sin

Yes, another blush right after I wrote about that giant colour wheel! Just because this is a wishlist, it doesn’t mean I’m buying everything on it… but, I really enjoy the formula of NARS blushes and Sin looks beautiful! It is  a berry shade with a gold shimmer which I think will look beautiful for fall.

Tarte | Tarteist Metallic Eye Shadow in Grind

tarte-tarteist-metallic-eyeshadow-grind

I recently watched a video where Tarte was demonstrating their metallic eye shadows on Facebook and the formula looked really nice. I definitely enjoy a metallic eye shadow and the shade Grind looks like a beautiful taupe shade!

Tarte | Tarteiest Metallic Eye Shadow in Poker Face

tarte-tarteist-metallic-eyeshadow-poker-facec

Pa-pa-pa-poker face, pa-pa-poker face! Great name aside, this silvery lilac also looks stunning!

Marc Jacobs | Daisy

marc-jacobs-daisy

I got a sample size of this perfume a few Sephora orders ago and I fell in love! It’s a beautiful floral scent that is very fresh and feminine. I’ve been wearing the sample so much it’s almost empty 😢

Zahra Beauty | Spinning Lipstick Tower Vitreous (Clear)

zahra-spinning-lipstick-tower-vitreous-clear

As you can imagine, I’ve got quite the lipstick collection going. I think a spinning lipstick tower would be a great way to keep my lipsticks organized and be able to see the shade names at the same time. I’ve had my eye on this tower for awhile now actually!

Well, that is my fall wishlist! What is on your fall wishlist? Let me know in the comments down below! I had the Kat Von D MetalMatte Eye Shadow Palette on my list originally too, but… I may have just purchased that 😉 I missed out on the Mi Vida Loca Remix palette last year because I was too slow, so I wasn’t letting that happen again this year!

Weekly Post Recap: September 26 to October 1, 2016

Hi guys! It’s sure has been an eventful week! From going to the gym, seeing friends and even taking my first motorcycle ride (as a passenger), this week has flown by! I also got a new phone, which means I’m able to take pictures spontaneously again so I may bring back Snapshot Sunday in the near future to coincide with these weeky recaps! But, until then, if you missed any posts this week, you will find links to them all here!

September Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

september-favourites-2016

Hi guys! September came to an end just as quickly as it began, it’s hard to believe we are now into fall and my favourite holiday, Halloween, is just around the corner! Even though this also means we are getting closer to dreaded winter (yes, I said it), we can at least chat about my September Favourites! There has been a few products this month that I have been using lots and obsessing over!

Makeup

Urban Decay | Vice Lipstick in 1993

urban-decay-1993

I picked up this lipstick as part of my Sephora haul in August and it quickly became a favourite. This shade just screams “fall” to me so it’s no surprise I wore it a ton in September! This lipstick even made my list of top 5 lipsticks for fall! I’m not going to say too much about it since I did talk about it in that post but I just had to include this in my September Favourites.

Urban Decay | All Nighter Liquid Foundation in 0.5

urban-decay-all-nighter-foundation-0-5

Another pick from Urban Decay! I picked up this foundation as well during my Sephora haul in August so I’ve been using it for over a month now. It’s a touch too late for my skin at the moment, but as fall and winter sets in, it will be perfect! Right now I’m using a bit of bronzer to make it work and occasionally mixing in a darker foundation. But, with that said, I love this foundation! It definitely is long-wearing and keeps me matte. You need to work quickly to blend it in, but the end result is a flawless looking face! It creates such a wonderful canvas for the rest of your makeup. Love it! I’ve got a swatch of it over in my Sephora Haul post if you’re interested!

Skincare

Nivea | Purifying Toner

nivea-purifying-toner

I never really used toners in my skincare routine until now. I went to Shopper’s Drugmart about a month or so ago to pick up a new night cream and I ended up leaving with this as well. This toner is meant for those with oily skin like myself. It is enriched with ocean algae and hydra IQ to tone and purify skin to remove oil and impurity build up. This reduces excess sebum and prevents shine. What I love about this product is that it does all of that and doesn’t excessively dry out my skin. My skin feels balanced and hydrated. I’m glad I added this to my daily routine so this definitely belongs in my September Favourites!

More!

Marc Anthony Hair Care | Coconut Oil Curl Cream

marc-anthony-coconut-oil-curl-cream

I bought this before I went on vacation to bring with me as my only hair styling product. I’ve loved Marc Anthony products for curly hair for awhile so I had high hopes and was confident this one would work out. Boy, am I ever glad I was right! As promised, this product fights frizz which is something I am prone to. After applying it to damp hair and letting it air dry, I am left with soft, defined and healthy looking curls. This product is infused with biotin and I actually do feel an improvement in my hair after using it exclusively for a month (as I’ve continued to use it since I’ve been home).

Those are my favourites for September! I’d love to hear what your favourites were so feel free to let me know in the comments down below!

Robyn

Empties: Q3 2016

empties-q3-2016

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve done an empties post! I don’t use up products often enough to do monthly posts so I’m going to switch to a quarterly format. Perfect timing since we are wrapping up Q3! So, let’s take a peak at what I’ve used up this past quarter!

Skincare

bio-republic-sheet-masks

BioRepublic | Cucumber Breeze & Pomegrante Crush Sheet Masks

I love using sheet masks, I think they are just so fun to put on and then sneak up on my husband. I didn’t really see a noticeable difference with my skin, but they do feel rather moisturizing. Would I repurchase? Probably not, I’m sure there are better sheet masks out there. I got these in an Ipsy bag, so I enjoyed them but not enough to actually buy them myself.

GlamGlow | YouthCleanse

I got this as a sample at some point from Sephora, so another item that I didn’t actually purchase myself. This was a nice product to use as you apply it like a mask, but then immediately foam up the leftover product on your hand and then massage your skin before rinsing. Would I repurchase? I just can’t bring myself to spend the money on GlamGlow. The full size product is $43.00 CAD, I could buy at least two lipsticks with that! I didn’t see enough of an amazing difference in my skin to justify the cost.

Caudalie | Eau Micellaire

This was the quarter of using up samples! I took this with me on my road trip as micellar water is a part of my daily face cleansing routine. Would I repurchase? Another no! It did a great job so I’m not knocking the product, but I like my Garnier SkinActive Micellar water just as much and it is much less expensive.

Garnier | Ultra-Lift Miracle Sleeping Cream

When I ran out of my Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream (which I’ve talked about in previous empties posts), I decided to pick this one up to change things up! Would I repurchase? Hmm… maybe. I think I like the Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream a bit more. Though, to be honest, I didn’t notice much of a difference between them. But, I prefer the scent of the other one.

Makeup

loreal-infallible-pro-matte

L’Oreal | Infallible Pro-Matte in Classic Ivory

Another one bites the dust! I’ve talked about this quite a bit in previous empties posts so I won’t go into much detail. Would I repurchase? Yes! I already have actually as this is my favourite matte drugstore foundation!

Urban Decay | Naked Skin Concealer in Light Neutral

This has been my go-to concealer ever since I picked it up! I’ve talked about this a lot in various posts, YouTube videos and favourites posts so I won’t say much about this one either. Would I repurchase? Yes! I already did! I love the formula of this concealer and the shade is absolutely perfect for me! I did also recently pick up the Too Faced Born This Way concealer, and while I’m really loving the formula of it, the lightest shade is a bit too dark for me. It matches my skin but, I prefer a concealer that is a bit lighter so that I can highlight a bit. I do like to mix them though!

Revlon | Dramatic Definition Mascara

I did a full review on this mascara hereWould I repurchase? Yes and I already did! I have given quite a few drugstore mascaras glowing reviews this year but this is the first one that I repurchased. Normally I have an urge to go out and try another new one, but when I was ready to throw this one out, I really felt that I needed another one to replace it!

Hair Products

curl-keeper

fave4 | Texture Takeover

I used this quite a bit when my hair was a bit shorter and had more layers to it to add some volume and texture. I got this in a Birchbox quite awhile ago but didn’t really have a use for it until then. Would I repurchase? Hmm, maybe. It worked really well, but I’m sure I could find another texture spray that would work just as well. If I saw this locally I would pick it up though, I just wouldn’t go out of my way to hunt it down.

Curl Keeper | Original

This purchase was inspired by the one and only StashMatters as she has mentioned it quite a few times! I purchased this with my Birchbox points before they left Canada so I just got the travel size. Would I repurchase? Yes! I really enjoyed the way this kept my curls defined but without being frizzy. I am pretty sure I have to order it from Amazon so I haven’t repurchased yet. I’m actually really enjoying another hair product right now that I’ll be posting about later on this week in my September Favourites so  keep an eye out for that! But, I think I’ll grab another bottle of this eventually!

Batiste | Dry Shampoo

I’m pretty sure I used up a few of these during the past quarter, I just forgot to keep them. Would I repurchase? Yes, I definitely have a few of these on-hand at all times! I feel like I will always have this product in my empties posts!

So, those were my empties for Q3! Did you finish any amazing or not so amazing products this past month? Let me know in the comments down below!

Robyn

Mani Monday: Dermelect Unscripted

dermelect unscripted

Hi guys! Two Mani Monday’s in a row? Look at me go! This week I have Dermelect Unscripted on my nails. I previously posted about this in my August Ipsy Glam Bag. It’s a beautiful violet-pink shade and is infused with peptides to strengthen weak nails. This 5-free formula also claims to stand up to chips and splitting “like armour”. I’m looking forward to seeing how long this lasts!

While the shade is beautiful on it’s own, I really wanted to add a glitter accent to give it a little something extra. For my glitter accent I added in OPI Divine Swine from the 2011 Muppet’s Christmas Collection. That collection is usually my go-to for glitter accents because they really did a fantastic job with them. I loved that collection so much that I actually own every shade from it!

Products Used:

OPI Chip Skip
OPI Nail Envy Original (1 coat)
Dermelect Unscripted (1 coat)
OPI Divine Swine (1 coat on ring fingers only)
Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat (1 coat)

Yes, you read that correctly, ONE COAT of Dermelect Unscripted! Amazing! I was extra impressed since I was in a rush when I did this manicure so the minimal coats greatly helped out my dry time. I’m really impressed so far, so I’ll be sure to update you on the wear-time in next week’s Mani Monday! In addition, the formula of the polish was also a nice consistency so it applied quite smoothly and neatly.

What do you have on your nails today? Let me know in the comments down below!

xoxo,

Robyn

MOTD: Warm & Vampy

laura-lee-violet-loss-warm-vampy

Hi guys! Today’s post is super late, but I’ve been very slow moving today. Tonight I’m going out to celebrate the birthday of one of my best friends so I wanted to do a warm and vampy look with the Violet Voss x Laura Lee Palette. I blogged about this palette a few months ago and I’m still in love with it! The palette itself is now sold out but, I still thought I would share the look I did with it.

laura-lee-violet-loss-warm-vampy-look

laura-lee-violet-loss-warm-vampy-look-1

Products Used:

Primer: Nivea Post Shave Balm in Sensitive
Foundation: Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation in 0.5
Concealer: Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in Very Fair & Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral (mixed)
Powder: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Blush: Becca x Jaclyn Hill – Amaretto
Bronzer: Tarte Park Avenue Princess
Contour: Anastasia Beverly Hills Fawn
Highlight: Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop layered with theBalm’s Mary-Lou Manizer on top
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion (original). Violet Voss x Laura Lee Palette – Priss Pot, Mama Bird and Raga Muffin (transition/crease). Alabama (crease, outer-v and under eye). Rammer Jammer (inner part of lid), Bitty (centre of lid) and Lou (under eye). MAC Eye Shadow – Cranberry and Sketch (outer-v) and Mylar (brow bone). Smashbox Rated-X Mascara (lashes).
Brows: NYX Eye Brow Gel in Blonde and L’Oreal Brow Sylist Plumper (clear)
Lips: Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Heathers

I’m absolutely in love with how this look turned out. I really love warm and vampy looks all year round but I’m particularly drawn to them during the fall season. The Violet Voss x Laura Lee palette is particularly amazing for warm looks. I just want to slap all of the warm shades all over my face. It’s so beautiful.

If you wanted to tone down the vampy-ness of this look you could totally use a nude or dusty rose lipstick instead. I debated wearing Kat Von D’s Lolita with this but, decided to go darker. I always choose a liquid lipstick when I’m going out because of the longevity of that type of formula. When I’m out I don’t want to be worrying about it my lipstick has disappeared!

What are you wearing on your face today? Is it warm and vampy too? Let me know in the comments down below!

xoxo,

Robyn
