October Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

October Favourites

With October quickly coming to a close I’m excited to share with you a few items that I could not put down this past month. As always, these posts are typically a little more makeup-heavy as that is usually what excites me most in this vast world of beauty. Of course some of these are tried and true favourites, and may even be repeats, but lets dive into what I enjoyed using the most this month.

Too Faced | Flushed Blush in How Deep is Your Love?

This is definitely nothing new but I have been wearing Too Faced’s How Deep is Your Love? a lot lately. It just gives me the perfect cheek colour and compliments my skin tone quite well. I don’t see it listed anymore on the Sephora website so I really hope it isn’t discontinued! I do see it on the Too Faced website though. Continue reading

October Collective Haul

October Collective Haul

Hi guys! We aren’t quite at the end of the month yet, but I’m ready to share what I’ve hauled over the course of the month with you. It was supposed to be a small haul this month, however great deals and discounts seemed to change that quickly. So, let’s check out what caught my eye and came home with my this month!

Sephora.ca Orders

Anastasia Beverly Hills Haul

I ordered both of these items separately but it made sense to group them together in one photo. The first item I purchased this month was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow in the shade Ash Brown. I had got a sample of this last month and loved how it matched my darker hair better than the Taupe shade that I used to use. Later on in the month when the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette was part of the Sephora Wow Deals, I just could not pass it up. I wanted it when it first came out and ended up passing on it, but at 50% off I couldn’t say no. I’m excited to play with mixing different lipstick shades! Continue reading

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes

Hi guys! Today I’ve got a post that I’ve been excited to post for awhile as I have been absolutely loving the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette. First of all, it smells DELICIOUS, and secondly, it is full of pigmented and highly blendable peach toned eye shadows. At first, I didn’t think I needed this palette as I am seldom drawn to all-matte eye shadow palettes but after seeing a lot of amazing looks using this on other blogs and instagram my attitude changed. Thus, I hauled this in September and have no regrets. In fact, it became an instant favourite!

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes

The Too Faced Just Peachy Palette contains twelve shades – 11 mattes and one snuck in pearly shade. It contains both neutrals, including a few great transition and crease shades, some pops of bright colour and some deeper shades. Basically, it has many bases covered in a relatively small palette. I think it would be great for travel and am already planning on bringing it with me to Paris in December. Continue reading

Fall Favourites

Fall Favourites

Hi guys! The air has DEFINITELY gotten a lot cooler around here lately with temperatures even dipping into the negatives overnight. Before the fall season leaves us for the dreaded winter, I thought I’d share five random fall favourites of mine (in no particular order). These are five things that without a doubt remind me of fall.

Kat Von D | Monarch Palette

I so badly wish this wasn’t discontinued, and although I do rock it all year round, my classic go-to look using it ALWAYS reminds me of fall. Even if I wear it in any other season (which I do) it reminds me of fall. I’ll have to recreate it now that I have a better camera and lighting set up! I really do wear warm shades all year round but they always remind me of the crisp fall leaves. Some other GREAT alternatives that are currently available include the Morphe 35O Palette and the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette which are both fantastic choices if you like to rock warm eyeshadow, like myself! Love for Lipstick: Lipsense

Hi guys! I feel like for the past year or so, Lipsense by SeneGence has been everywhere I look. At work, on Instagram, on Facebook, at local events, you name it. Lipsense appears to be SeneGence’s most popular product as it is a long-wearing lipstick with some serious claims. It is said to last up to 18 hours and to be kiss proof, smudge proof and water proof. Basically, it sounds like it can survive an apocalypse. I have to admit, I was really skeptical of this “miracle” product, being an avid hoarder of lipsticks of all varieties. However, when Hallie of All Day Everyday Lips, a local distributor offered me a set for review, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see if this product really works.

With a whopping forty-five shades to choose from, I chose the shade Berry. I love deep shades like this for the fall. Also, dark colours also seem to be the most noticeable when they disappear so it seemed perfect for a wear test. Hallie also provided me with a Glossy Gloss and an Ooops! Remover so that I had everything I needed to begin this Lipsense journey.

Colourpop Hi-Maintenance Eyeshadow Palette

Colourpop Hi-Maintenance

Hi guys! Last month I shared the Colourpop Hi-Maintenance Eyeshadow Palette as part of my September haul. I’d been dying to try Colourpop’s pressed eyeshadows since they had launched so this quad seemed like a good time to try them out. It contains two shimmery shades and two mattes. I love the colours included in this palette as I enjoy wearing red/burgundy shades on the eyes!

Colourpop Hi-Maintenance Palette

The Packaging is a simple white Colourpop cardboard palette, with no markings of which palette it is, or what shades it contains. That is, aside from the cardboard sleeve that it comes with which you can see above. The palette itself does feel quite sturdy though and the eyeshadows can be removed to be either switched-out or to be added to a z-palette. I wish the palette itself had the quad’s name and the names of the shades on it though.

Shiseido Tokyo Beauty VoxBox

Shiseido

Hi guys! I recently received the Shiseido Tokyo Beauty VoxBox from Influenster complimentary for review. I had never tried Shiseido so I was really excited when I found out I was receiving this box. Shiseido, a Japanese company, is one of the oldest cosmetics companies in the world. It produces skincare, cosmetics, fragrances and hair care. I received a pretty good variety of their products to try so lets dive into what I got!

Shiseido | Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate

Shiseido

This serum is meant to boost your routine by defending your skin against signs of stress, aging and environmental damage. I found it quite nice to use, it absorbs pretty quickly into the skin. I like to test skincare out a bit more before forming an opinion so I’ll have to expand on this one more a bit later. This is a travel sized items so you’ll definitely see this in my next empties most.

Shiseido | Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation

Shiseido

The Synchro Skin was sent in the shade neutral which I think is the lightest shade. It’s kind of hard to tell looking at the photos online. Anyways, unfortunately this is just a touch too dark and orangey for me. In person it doesn’t look too bad but it’s very obvious in photos which is a shame because I really enjoy the formula. It really does feel like an extension of my own skin. My face doesn’t get overly oily throughout the day and it looks pretty natural (aside from the colour variation from the rest of my skin). It definitely is long-lasting as well as I find it is all still there when I take it off at night. Later on in this post you’ll see a photo of me with it on in all my oompa-loompa-y glory! Q3 Empties: July to September 2017

Q3 Empties

Hi guys! With Q3 complete it’s time to take a look at the empties that I have amassed over the last few months. There’s a few repeats this time around, as well as a whole bunch of mascara. I cleaned/organized my vanity the other day and found a bunch of mascaras that I thought I had already thrown out so I figured I might as well add those in here too! As you may recall, I’ve had my quarters mixed up this year so this post is a bit light as I had a few items in my last post that probably should have been in this one.

Q3 Empties

Rimmel | Shake it Fresh Mascara

I don’t really want to talk too much about this one as I did a full review of it here. I got it as part of an Influenster campaign and I hated it. I have barely used it but, I just can’t. It’s terrible. It didn’t flake or smudge, but the formula gave absolutely no volume to my lashes. They just kind of stuck straight out. Would I repurchase it? No way. With so many mascara choices out there, this is a hard pass.

Revlon | Dramatic Definition Mascara (Waterproof)

I gave the original version of the Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara a very positive review, however, when I went to repurchase it I accidentally bought the waterproof version. I don’t really wear waterproof mascaras and don’t particularly enjoy removing them so I hardly ever knowingly purchase them. I kind of just forgot I owned it as I didn’t really enjoy using it. Would I repurchase it? No, but I’d go back to the regular version. Continue reading

Wedding Makeup Look

Wedding Makeup Look

Hi guys! This past weekend I attended a wedding so I thought it would be fun to share with you the makeup that I wore. One of my favourite things about going out is getting to play with makeup and put together a more elegant look than my normal day to day routine. So, let’s take a peak at what my wedding makeup look comprised of!

Since I was wearing a red dress, I wanted to something warm with a touch of drama so I was instantly drawn to Morphe’s  the Jaclyn Hill Palette. The other component that I knew this wedding makeup look needed was a dark and vampy lip which I felt that my recently acquired Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Saturday achieved perfectly.

August & September Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

August September Favourites

Hi guys! I didn’t post my favourites for August (to be honest it was a bit difficult given my VERY minimalist summer) so I thought it would be more valuable to add them in with September so here we are! Now that the weather has been cooling down, and I’m not spending my weekends out at the lake, makeup has become more of a part of my routine again. Which, to be honest, I did miss it! So, let’s take a peak at what I’ve been loving lately!

Makeup Revolution | The Matte Blush in Beloved

Makeup Revolution’s the Matte Blush in the shade Beloved has been my constant go-to every day blush for the past 2.5 months. Basically, ever since I hauled in from Ulta in July it has rocked my world. It’s a very light coral nude shade and just something about it gives my face a beautiful flushed glow. I can’t get enough of it. Continue reading
