Sephora Avocado Sheet Mask

Sephora Avocado Sheet Mask

Hi guys! In my quest to try out more face masks, the next once I’ve tried is the Sephora Avocado Sheet Mask. I received this item complimentary from Sephora as part of an invitation to their local launch party last month. I was pretty excited to see this item was sent as I frequently put it in my cart and then end up taking it out. Does anyone else do that? I’m so indecisive. Anyways, I love avocados so why not put them on my face?

I started off with a clean face (first image) and place it on my face (second image). I left it on for about 15 minute as the packaging suggested. Based on the Sephora website this mask is said to “[Nurture] and [support] healthy skin by offering intense nutrition and relieving sensitive areas.” After removing the mask there was some serum left on my face (third photo), though there wasn’t a ton which leads me to believe my face absorbed most of it. My face did feel slightly sticky for a little while after use. Continue reading

Q2 Empites: Better Late than Never

Empties

Hi guys! My pile of empties was getting a bit out of hand recently and my husband had asked if I was ready to throw my beauty trash out yet. I responded by saying I was waiting for the end of Q2… to which my accountant husband pointed out was over a month ago. It appears that I’ve completely lost track of time, so this post is a bit larger than my normal post, so I’m guessing Q3 will probably be a little on the light side. With that said, let’s see what I’ve finished up since my last post!

Urban Decay | Naked Skin Concealer (Fair Neutral)

This was my ride or die concealer for quite some time. I think this is my second one that I’ve emptied over the past year. I love the shade of it, as well as how well it blends out while maintaining it’s pigmentation. While I have seen mixed reviews on it, it always worked for my skin. Would I repurchase it? Yes, but right now I’ve been pretty head over heels for the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. That being said, I still have room in my heart for this beauty. Continue reading

July Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

July 2017 Favourites

Hi guys! July is coming to a close so with that brings my monthly round up of favourites. Though my weekends were quite minimal when it came to makeup, I did play with makeup more on week days. I’d say overall it was a pretty balanced month. Between some new makeup coming into my life and knocking my socks off and focusing on skincare I think I have a pretty well rounded favourites today!

Makeup

Morphe | The Jaclyn Hill Palette

Morphe x The Jaclyn Hill Palette

I’ve done two posts on this palette this month, a first impressions and then one with five makeup looks using this palette. With that said, I’m still in love with it and I am still continuing to use it over other palettes in my collection. I feel like between this palette and the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette, I have found the palettes that will dominate my summer. The possibilities with this palette are really quite endless. It is a bit pricy to ship to Canada, but honestly with the size of this palette and the quality of the shadow, it’s quite comparable to an oversized palette that you would spend a similar amount on at Sephora. The Jaclyn Hill Palette is currently sold out but is set to return in August.

Buxom | Full-On Lip Polish in Dolly

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish Dolly

Another gloss in my favourites?! Who am I?! I had a gloss in my favourites last month and here we are again. I won this mini gloss in a giveaway that Pretty Ruff Life put on quite a few months ago and I’ve started to use it more now that the Becca gloss opened my mind up. I really love this formula! It isn’t sticky, it has a fun tingle and it is great for keeping in my purse. It’s definitely an every day shade so it goes with whatever makeup (or lack of makeup) I happen to have on. Glamglow Gravitymud Firming Treatment

Glamglow Gravitymud Firming Treatment

Hi guys! Today I’m reviewing another mask. I’d like to put out weekly mask reviews so this is the next one in my lineup of masks to try. I’ve heard many positive things about the Glamglow Gravitymud Firming Treatment so I decided to pick up the smaller size to see if it is worth the hype. Also, I kind of wanted to feel like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. Is that so wrong? Anyways, this mask was designed to tighten the appearance of skin, as the name suggests.

Glamglow Gravitymud Firming Treatment

The mask has a light coconut scent to it so it is really quite the treat to the nose if you love coconut scented products such as myself. It felt a bit gooey as I applied it but it was very easy to get a clean application and avoid my eyebrows as the packaging suggests. As it dries it becomes more of a shiny silver shade so you can truly get your Wizard of Oz vibes on. Although it dries down to be peeled off, it didn’t feel tight on my skin. I could move my face fairly naturally while it was on. Continue reading

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

Hi guys! Between wearing more sunscreen, going on hikes and having minimal skincare at the cottage, my skin has been in definite need for a detoxification. The Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment which we will be taking a look at today is meant to visibly clear the complexion. It can be used for all skin types to address oiliness, acne/blemishes and to clear pores. The activated charcoal with it’s Pore-Matrix technology reveals dots of vacuum extractions lifts away dirt and other debris that may be clogging your pores. The result is said to be a more healthy looking complexion.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

The first thing I noticed when applying this mask was the slightly minty scent that it has. Upon application my skin felt a little cold and refreshed. Perfect for a hot summer day! As it dried, while I couldn’t speak without cracking the mask, it also did not feel too tight. As it dried it started to change colour, and the Pore-Matrix technology started to reveal the dots of vacuum extractions. Gross in theory, kind of neat to look at though! There were some larger pieces of charcoal in the mask which is what the large black pieces are in the photos below. Continue reading

Q1 Empties: January to April 2017

Hi guys! I’m back today with my first empties post of 2017! Can you believe we are nearly through with Q1 already? Time is just flying this year and I have a feeling it is going to continue on this way. So, today I have a fairly decent sized empties post for you. I find the quarterly format really works best for the pace in which I finish things. So here we go…

Winter Bucket List

winter bucket list

Hi guys! I thought I would take a step away from beauty and chat about my winter bucket list. Winter is always a season that I feel like I just sit around waiting for it to be over. The snow, ice and cold are not friends of mine. I often wonder why I live in a climate that makes my face hurt, but here I am! Anyways, I thought making a short winter bucket list would help me make the most the winter season. Continue reading

Q4 Empties: Skincare, Makeup & Hair

Q4 Empties

Hi guys! It’s time for my last empties post of the year and I feel like it’s a decently sized one. I’m really glad I decided to break these up by quarter as I don’t use up enough stuff do to monthly posts. Quarterly seems a lot more satisfying to post! So, let’s check out the products I managed to finish up over the last quarter!

Q4 Empties Skincare

Garnier | SkinActive Micellar Water (waterproof makeup version)

I’ve talked about this product quite a few times over the course of the past year, it even got it’s own review! Therefore, I’m not really going to say too much about it.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

St. Ives | Green Tea Scrub

Another product that has received it’s own review so again I won’t say much more about it. You can find my full post here!

Would I repurchase? Yes!

St. Ives | Revitalizing Pear & Soy Hydrating Body Wash

While this scrub was pleasant to work with, I didn’t really enjoy the scent. I found it a very fake sickly sweet pear scent. I usually love pear everything but this was definitely a pass for me. This bottle lasted me forever which I appreciated, but I think I’ll be going back to my Bath & Body Works Body Wash!

Would I repurchase? No! Continue reading

Eden’s Semilla Vitamin E & Jojoba Oil

Hi guys! Eden’s Semilla was kind enough to send me two of their 100% natural oils for review. Going into this, I hadn’t really used oils all that much. I’d used a few samples here and there but never had fully committed myself to testing out an oil. The two that I was sent were the Vitamin E Oil and the Jojoba Oil. Eden’s Semilla was originally formed in the United States.

Now, let’s dive into these lovely oils…

Eden’s Semilla | Vitamin E Oil

The Vitamin E oil was the first one that I started testing. Made from a blend of their Jojoba Oil and Rosehip Oil, the product delivers an excellent consistency for application. It is the thinner product of the two oils and very versatile. Some of the benefits I’ve seen from it is a hydrated face and hydrated cuticles which is so important at this time of the year. It also absorbs quickly into the skin so that you are not left with a greasy residue. Any dryness that the winter weather has thrown my way has been repaired.

When using this oil while applying foundation, which is honestly something that scared me a bit before, I find that my skin has a natural glow and I don’t get greasy. If you’ve been following my blog you’ll know that I have oily skin so I really was impressed and how this didn’t negatively affect my foundation. While I haven’t had any sunburns in a long time, this product is also supposed to be excellent for proving relief from them.

Some of the ways I’ve enjoying using this product:

  • All over my face either on it’s own or prior to applying my nightly moisturizer
  • On my cuticles
  • A drop added to my makeup sponge prior to blending foundation for a natural glow

Maison Jacynthe Eau Florale de Rose

maison jacynthe eau florale de rose

Hi guys! I reviewed a few Maison Jacynthe makeup items a few weeks ago and today I’ve got a skincare item that they also sent to me for review. It is their lovely Eau Florale de Rose, or in English… Rose water! What drew me to this item is that I don’t really have any facial mists that I use and I enjoy trying out new things. So, let’s take a look at this Maison Jacynthe Eau Florale de Rose!

First off, I love the smell of this product. It truly smells like beautiful roses. Maison Jacynthe Eau Florale de Rose brings back wonderful memories of my childhood. We had a rose bush in my backyard and I loved to pick the pedals and put them in water to make my own “perfume”. When I spritz this on my face, I feel like I’m being transported back in time.
