Q2 Empites: Better Late than Never

Empties

Hi guys! My pile of empties was getting a bit out of hand recently and my husband had asked if I was ready to throw my beauty trash out yet. I responded by saying I was waiting for the end of Q2… to which my accountant husband pointed out was over a month ago. It appears that I’ve completely lost track of time, so this post is a bit larger than my normal post, so I’m guessing Q3 will probably be a little on the light side. With that said, let’s see what I’ve finished up since my last post!

Urban Decay | Naked Skin Concealer (Fair Neutral)

This was my ride or die concealer for quite some time. I think this is my second one that I’ve emptied over the past year. I love the shade of it, as well as how well it blends out while maintaining it’s pigmentation. While I have seen mixed reviews on it, it always worked for my skin. Would I repurchase it? Yes, but right now I’ve been pretty head over heels for the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. That being said, I still have room in my heart for this beauty. Continue reading

July Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

July 2017 Favourites

Hi guys! July is coming to a close so with that brings my monthly round up of favourites. Though my weekends were quite minimal when it came to makeup, I did play with makeup more on week days. I’d say overall it was a pretty balanced month. Between some new makeup coming into my life and knocking my socks off and focusing on skincare I think I have a pretty well rounded favourites today!

Makeup

Morphe | The Jaclyn Hill Palette

Morphe x The Jaclyn Hill Palette

I’ve done two posts on this palette this month, a first impressions and then one with five makeup looks using this palette. With that said, I’m still in love with it and I am still continuing to use it over other palettes in my collection. I feel like between this palette and the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette, I have found the palettes that will dominate my summer. The possibilities with this palette are really quite endless. It is a bit pricy to ship to Canada, but honestly with the size of this palette and the quality of the shadow, it’s quite comparable to an oversized palette that you would spend a similar amount on at Sephora. The Jaclyn Hill Palette is currently sold out but is set to return in August.

Buxom | Full-On Lip Polish in Dolly

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish Dolly

Another gloss in my favourites?! Who am I?! I had a gloss in my favourites last month and here we are again. I won this mini gloss in a giveaway that Pretty Ruff Life put on quite a few months ago and I’ve started to use it more now that the Becca gloss opened my mind up. I really love this formula! It isn’t sticky, it has a fun tingle and it is great for keeping in my purse. It’s definitely an every day shade so it goes with whatever makeup (or lack of makeup) I happen to have on. My Minimal Makeup Routine

Minimal Makeup Routine

Hi guys! I don’t know about you but when the weather warms up, I don’t wear a lot of makeup on the weekends. Between going for hikes and spending time at the cottage, I tend to go very minimal. With that said, I do still put a little bit of makeup on most of the time. So, let’s take a closer look at what makes the cut for this minimal makeup routine!

It Cosmetics | CC Cream

It Cosmetics CC Cream

What I like about the It Cosmetics CC Cream is that it has SPF and lightly evens out my skin tone. It’s great for quickly applying to the face when you feel like you want just a hint of coverage. I don’t want to get too much into this product as I plan on doing a review shortly, but aside from this type of usage, I don’t like it as an every day foundation. If I’m wearing any other makeup with this (blush, etc) it ends up looking very patchy throughout the day if it gets warm out (this could be due to my oily skin type). Giant areas will completely disappear so if you’re wearing anything else it’s super noticeable. If you’re wearing this on it’s own with a powder to set it, it wouldn’t be as noticeable so that is why I like it only for my minimal routine. Continue reading

Love for Lipstick: Buxom Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick

Buxom Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick

Hi guys! I’ve got another Love for Lipstick post for you today! We will be taking a closer look at the Buxom Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lover. I picked this beauty up when I went to the preview party prior to the opening of Sephora in Thunder Bay a few weeks ago. The Buxom Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick (wow that’s a mouthful!) is said to have the pigmentation of a liquid lipstick but the comfort of a gloss.

Buxom Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick

The formula itself is definitely whipped as the name suggests. It applies almost like a mousse and has a slightly thicker consistency compared to your standard liquid lipstick. It definitely is quite pigmented and only requires one coat of product. It kind of reminded me of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. Between the formula and the doe-foot applicator it is quite easy to get a nice even application.  Continue reading

The Jaclyn Hill Palette: First Impressions

Morphe x The Jaclyn Hill Palette

Hi guys! Today we will be looking at the the Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe. This palette has been in the works for quite some time now and after so many teases and sneak peaks, I’m so excited to have it in my hands now. Jaclyn Hill had been working on this palette with Morphe to get it to her liking for a couple of years. I’ve had this palette for a couple weeks now but between being out of town and have several makeup free days, I’m only starting to test it out now. So today I have some swatches and first impressions for you. I will start posting the makeup looks that I have been putting together very soon!

Morphe x The Jaclyn Hill Palette

The Jaclyn Hill Palette leans mostly warm but it does have some cool shades as well as some pops of colour. I think for the most part it is pretty well-rounded and has everything you need to do several completed makeup looks. Each shadow I’ve used so far performs excellently. I have found though that some of the more metallic shades do apply better with your fingers compared to using a brush. Continue reading

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

Hi guys! Influenster recently sent me the Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara complimentary for review as part of a recent campaign. Since I loved the last Revlon mascara that I tried, I was really excited when I saw I was selected to participate. The Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara is a tubing mascara that deposits fibres around your lashes for volume and length. Based on it’s description alone I was quite optimistic for this one (unlike the last mascara that I reviewed!).

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

The brush on this mascara is fairly average in size and tapers a bit towards the tip to make it super easy to use. If I can manage to not get mascara all over my under eye area when coating my bottom lashes then I call it a success! The flat style of the tube is nice as well as it doesn’t feel bulky in the hands and can be maneuvered easily. Also, since it doesn’t roll it is GREAT for photographing (blogger problems, am I right?!). Continue reading

Sephora Thunder Bay Preview Night

Sephora Thunder Bay

Hi guys! Earlier this week, I wrote a post in anticipation of the opening of Sephora Thunder Bay and I’m excited to now share with you my experience at the Preview Night which occurred the evening before the official opening. The opening of Thunder Bay’s very own Sephora in our Intercity Shopping Centre has been something I’ve dreamed of but never really thought would actually happen, but we’re here! It turns out, our region has a very high number of online sales which is what helped bring Sephora to our beautiful city. I was very thankful to receive an invitation to the Preview Night both as a VIB Rouge member and also as a beauty blogger. Continue reading
